2025 Travel: Italy

          Bari to Matera
        along the Via Peuceta
Join Aerobic Arsenal for 7 days of running along a system of secondary Roman roads, medieval streets, and sheep tracks known as the Via Peuceta.
This picturesque path is steeped in history and culture as it travels from the busy Adriatic seaside city of Bari in Puglia to the ancient city of Matera in Basilicata.  Matera long stood as the hub of commerce and activity in Southern Italy and, in 2019, was named the European Capital of Culture.  The 170km journey will take runners through lush olive groves of the coastal plain, the rich expanses of the Murgian plateau, and finally into the rocky terrain from which Matera rises.

2025 Dates:   May (exact dates to follow)  Running days:  7 (average of 24km/day)
Cost:  to follow       Runner limit: 8
